they make me die a little more inside Unique Responses to Danger:
(1) In May, just after bird flu was discovered in Ivory Coast, hundreds of young people flocked to Abidjan's night clubs to taunt the disease with a new dance imitating a chicken in the throes of death, according to a Reuters dispatch ("leaning backward, shaking (the) wrists, arms and legs ... with a loud clucking sound").
(2) As volcanologists warned of the possible eruption of Indonesia's Mount Merapi in May, nearby farmers continued to listen instead to the mountain's spirits and to continue their rituals and offerings to ward off an eruption, according to an NBC News report. In one region, to preserve the mountain's tranquility, men "gather naked in groups late at night and run in circles around their villages." [Reuters, 5-14-06] [MSNBC-NBC News, 5-19-06]
How the hell did they manage to survive this long?

Ah children aren't they cute?
As Eddie izzard said transvestite is actually a male tom boy.
A 5-year-old boy in Broward County, Fla., preparing to enter kindergarten, is believed by gender-identity experts to be the youngest kid in the country whose family supports his decision to live completely as the other sex (according to a May profile in New Times Broward-Palm Beach). The parents doubt that the unnamed now-girl (dubbed "Nicole Anderson" in the article) is "just going through a phase," because of "her" early, constant, and insistent female preferences and comments, e.g., "I want the fairy princess to come and make my penis into a vagina." My mom told me about this so i looked it up low and behold it's true... And i look to the heavens and ask 'Where the hell do people get these ideas?'
This reads like a movie plot
A bad movie plot.
In the 1990s, John Goff and his wife, Narda, campaigned for a tougher state rape law in Ohio. Their activism was sparked by the acquittal of a man accused of molesting Shenna Grimm. At the time, according to Ohio law, it wasn't rape if it didn't include intercourse.
Shenna Grimm was John Goff's stepdaughter. Narda's daughter. Remember that name: Shenna Grimm. Now, let's flash forward to 2002.
~~~~~ In 2002, John Goff was himself convicted of rape, under the new laws in Ohio. He was also convicted of sexual battery and child endangering. At a time when her mother could no longer conceive a child, John Goff forced his (then) 16-year old stepdaughter, Shenna Grimm (remember her?), to be impregnated with his sperm. He didn't rape her, under the old laws, because he used a syringe to impregnate her. No intercourse. No rape. But in 2002, there were new laws. He was sentencd to 20 years.
His attorney filed an appeal. Last June, the appeals court overtuned the convictions, saying that a detective's testimony about statements by Goff's wife should not have been allowed.
On Monday, a jury again convicted him of rape, sexual battery and child endangering. The new jury deliberated about three hours on Friday and broke for the weekend before reaching a decision Monday afternoon. His sentencing hearing has not yet been set.
So you remeber playing with mud as a kid right? A new fad has started in japan where children make shiny mud balls Hikaru DorodangoI might actually try this.... and fail miserably but hey its worth a shot, ne? Here are the instructions if you dont want to read the article: How to Make Shiny Dorodango 1. Pack some mud into your hand, and squeeze out the water while forming a sphere. 2. Add some dry dirt to the outside and continue to gently shape the mud into a sphere. 3. When the mass dries, pack it solid with your hands, and rub the surface until a smooth film begins to appear. 4. Rub your hands against the ground, patting and rubbing the fine, powdery dirt onto the sphere. Continue this for two hours. 5. Seal the ball in a plastic bag for three or four hours. Upon removing the sphere, repeat step 4, and then once again seal the sphere in a plastic bag. 6. Remove the ball from the bag, and if it is no longer wet, polish it with a cloth until it shines.  And heres what it can look like
